Welcome to Emmaus

Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized him; and he vanished from their sight. They said to each other, "Were not our hearts burning within us while he was talking to us on the road, while he was opening the scriptures to us?"

Luke 24:31-32

In short, we promise:
Real People. Real Life. Real Faith.

A church home for all

We are an open and inclusive Episcopal community in Surprise, Arizona seeking everyone who wishes to live the Gospel commandment to seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving your neighbor as yourself. Serving all of our neighbors by honoring and affirming the gifts given to every individual of any age, race, gender, sexual orientation, sexual identity, ethnicity, religion, marital status, employment status, economic status, political affiliation, and personal ability.
Rooted in thousands of years of apostolic tradition, and seeking to embrace the kind of radical love modeled by Christ himself, the Emmaus community strives to offer the calm of tradition in a busy and changing modern world.Whether you are a lifelong Episcopalian, new to the Episcopal Church, "so done" with "church", a new Christian, are from another faith background, or no faith background, we offer a chance to worship, study, reflect, and question in an open and supportive community.

Come and See!

a message from our missioner
We know it can be difficult to find a new church home and join a new community.
We hope you'll take a chance, take a deep breath, and walk through the (virtual) doors of our church and find a loving, welcoming, and embracing community on the other side.We look forward to getting to know you and learning about the things that are close to your heart and are excited to see how your presence among us will help us all to learn, grow, change, and continue to experience Christ's presence as we journey ... together.
Blessings and Peace be with you!

Special Event Registration

Wednesdays, September 28, October 5, 12
6:00pm-8:00pm | via Zoom

For the safety of all participants,
preregistration is required for this study. Zoom classroom information will be sent to all registered participants before the start of the class.
Parental consent required for those under age 18.
Led by Yale-educated scholar, and Episcopal Priest, the Rev. Emilie Finn this study seeks to explore what the bible actually says about gender and sexuality. We'll examine the historical context in which the texts were written, how these words have been used in and by the Church throughout time. Whether you are Christian, of another faith background, or of no faith background, Biblical references to gender and sexuality shape our secular lives. Come and see what scripture references from both the Old and New Testaments, and particularly the oft-quoted passages in Paul’s Letter to the Romans have to say about this important topic!

This class is open to all. Participants need not be a current member of our congregation, or any congregation, nor of any faith at all.

worship with us

Sundays at 4pm

Currently meeting in hybrid fashion!
We are grateful to our friends at the former Desert Streams Lutheran congregation for the time we spent sharing their worship and meeting space. Unfortunately, at the end of 2020, the Desert Streams community disbanded and the building has been sold. Emmaus continues to meet virtually and in-person throughout our community. Please contact us at EmmausEpiscopal@gmail.com for the most up-to-date worship and event schedule.

Maintaining familiar family atmosphere
Because our community is based in traditional liturgical worship and we value face-to-face interaction and are held in-person and virtually via Zoom.

Service bulletins and links to Sunday services are posted at www.Facebook.com/EmmausEpiscopalThis is a public page; available whether or not you have (or use) a Facebook account.  Our Zoom Worship Link opens at 4pm each Sunday.
